Ultimate Whalewatch
Learn firsthand what it is like to be a whale researcher by spending time with our research team, in a small group setting in our research lab, at our Discovery Center, and at sea on a whalewatch.

Your adventure begins at Pacific Whale Foundation’s Discovery Center overlooking Ma’alaea Harbor. Take part in a 45-minute presentation given by one of our researchers, including a fascinating look at  how we photograph and study whales in the wild. During the presentation, you’ll enjoy a complimentary tropical-style continental breakfast, with locally-grown fruit, fresh-baked pastries and Maui coffee.

Next, you’ll embark on a two-hour whalewatch with our researchers. Observe our
researchers gathering identification photos of whales and ask all the questions you want about whale behavior and marine research. You’ll also listen to live whale songs via underwater hydrophones. After disembarking the vessel, you’ll return to the Discovery Center and our research lab for a 30 to 40 minute informational session about our ongoing whale research in Hawaii, Australia, and Ecuador.

As always, whale sightings are guaranteed. (If you do not see whales,
you will get a free ticket for one of our Classic Whalewatches.).

Includes:
* Free CD of the professional images taken during the cruise, plus some of our researchers’ favorite whale photos
* Free “I Love Whales” bumpersticker
* Free copy of Pacific Whale Foundation’s exclusive DVD, “Research Clips From the Field,” featuring video of whales observed during our 2010 whale research study in Australia
* Free whale poster and color whalewatch guide

Whale Search Lahaina
Available November 8 through 25

The first sightings of humpback whales typically are reported off Maui’s coast during September or October. Their numbers gradually increase as autumn turns to winter. Our two-hour Whale Search Cruises offer the opportunity to get out on the water, learn about whales from our expert naturalists and possibly observe some of our early season whales. We do not guarantee whale sightings, but with the captains of our seven vessels and our researchers in close contact, we are very skilled at locating whales in the area. It’s always a thrill to see these earliest whales of the year, as they arrive in Maui to mate, give birth and care for their young.

* Free whale poster and free color whalewatching guide
